The parents’ group noted that as schools have been authorized to operate at 50 percent capacity in hybrid mode, the range of possible transport on the roads has been reduced, thus closing down the schools. The public health benefit of sorts has been reduced. School closures do not provide any significant health benefits to most school-going children in Delhi, most of whom have suffered greatly from school closures due to the longest pandemic in the world.
DOE had announced the closure of schools
The Directorate of Education (DOE) on Sunday announced that schools in Delhi will remain closed for physical classes till further orders, while online classes and board exams will continue. The Delhi government had on November 13 announced the closure of schools and other educational institutions in view of the deteriorating air quality in Delhi. Schools had reopened for all classes from 1 November after being closed for nearly 19 months due to COVID-19.
